Maternity Photoshoot information
Some tips to help your maternity session run smoothly…
Maternity sessions are a great celebration of your pregnant body and the wonderful things that it’s doing. We want you to feel comfortable, confident and empowered at the session so please be as honest and open with us about the type of images you would like - and equally as important, the type of images you don’t want!
With five children between us, we’ve been there and we know what an amazing time it it. But we equally appreciate how vulnerable and emotional it can be. If it feels easier, please feel free to put any wishes for the shoot or fears in an email in advance, or give us a call if you’d rather.
With that it mind you may want to come to the shoot alone, you may want your other half there (to be in the images or just for moral support its completely up to you!), you might want to bring your best friend, your mum, or your whole tribe of little ones along - anything goes and we’re happy to work with you to achieve the images you want.
Siblings
If your party includes children under four, please make sure the arranged shoot times work around nap times so the children are as well rested as possible.
Please bring snacks, a drink and, dare I say it, anything that might be used as (ahem) blackmail, just in case they need a little encouragement!
For little ones favourite toys are welcome, and welcome in shots too - we’ve even had a dinosaur tea party in the studio.
Clothing
Clothing for maternity shots is a very personal choice. Some women like to be completely covered and choose to bring a long flowing dress, in which we can pose you to best show off your pregnancy shape. Fitted clothes work well too, ideally in plain colours avoiding too many patterns or logos.
Some women like to show off their bump and wear a cropped top with jeans or leggings.
We also have a lovely swarth of white fabric which we can drape around your body to make some beautiful images - this is usually done wearing nude underwear (if you have it) which we hide with the fabric.
We are also happy to take nude images - or images which appear to be nude and underwear is carefully hidden. This is completely your choice and might be something you work up to in the session. If this is something you might want to do, then please bring nude underwear if you have it.
Please feel free to bring a selection of outfits and we can help you choose at the beginning of the session.
